PIVOT Book Launch

Thursday 16th April, 19:00
Join us on Thursday, April 16 at 7pm for the launch of Imani Mason Jordan’s PIVOT (HELA Press, 2026), an experimental, book-length poem exploring the profound act of turning, with the Haitian Revolution as its cornerstone. There will be a reading of PIVOT by Mason Jordan, whose experimental performance practice uses improvisation, minimalist technique, and Black study to choreograph language, foregrounding the speaking/reading voice as a musical instrument.

Imani Mason Jordan is an interdisciplinary writer, editor, artist, and curator interested in performance and poetics. Their doctoral research focuses on racial capitalism through the work of Stuart Hall. In their poetic practice, Mason Jordan uses improvisation, minimalist technique, and Black study to choreograph language. In 2026, they are curating a group exhibition at Raven Row, London.
